Good Friday.
Psalm 12. Salvum
me fac.
HELP me, Lord, for there is not one
godly man left; * for the faithful are minished from among the children of men.
2 They talk of vanity every one with
his neighbour; * they do but flatter with their lips, and dissemble in their double
heart.
3 The Lord shall root out all deceitful
lips, * and the tongue that speaketh proud things;
4 Which have said, With our tongue will
we prevail; * we are they that ought to speak; who is lord over us?
5 Now, for the comfortless troubles’
sake of the needy, * and because of the deep sighing of the poor,
6 I will up, saith the Lord; * and will
help every one from him that swelleth against him, and will set him at rest.
7 The words of the Lord are pure words;
* even as the silver which from the earth is tried, and purified seven times in
the fire.
8 Thou shalt keep them, O Lord; * thou
shalt preserve them from this generation for ever.
9 The ungodly walk on every side: *
when they are exalted, the children of men are put to rebuke.
Glory be to the Father and to the Son *
and to the Holy Ghost.
As it was in the beginning, is now, and
ever shall be, * world without end. Amen.
The Collects.
ALMIGHTY God, we beseech thee graciously to behold this thy
family, for whom our Lord Jesus Christ was contented to be betrayed, and given
up into the hands of wicked men, and to suffer death upon the cross, who now
liveth and reigneth with thee and the Holy Ghost, ever one God, world without
end. Amen.
ALMIGHTY and everlasting God, by whose Spirit the whole body
of the Church is governed and sanctified; Receive our supplications and
prayers, which we offer before thee for all estates of men in thy holy Church,
that every member of the same, in his vocation and ministry may truly and godly
serve thee; through our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Amen.
O MERCIFUL God, who hast made all men, and hatest nothing that
thou hast made, nor wouldest the death of a sinner, but rather that he should
be converted and live; Have mercy upon all Jews, Turks, Infidels, and
Hereticks, and take from them all ignorance, hardness of heart, and contempt of
thy Word; and so fetch them home, blessed Lord, to thy flock, that they may be
saved among the remnant of the true Israelites, and be made one fold under one
shepherd, Jesus Christ our Lord, who liveth and reigneth with thee and the Holy
Spirit, one God, world without end. Amen.

Psalm 4. Cum
invocarem.
HEAR me when I call, O God of my
righteousness: * thou hast set me at liberty when I was in trouble; have mercy
upon me, and hearken unto my prayer.
2 O ye sons of men, how long will ye
blaspheme mine honour, * and have such pleasure in vanity, and seek after falsehood?
3 Know this also, that the Lord hath
chosen to himself the man that is godly; * when I call upon the Lord he will hear
me.
4 Stand in awe, and sin not; * commune
with your own heart, and in your chamber, and be still.
5 Offer the sacrifice of righteousness,
* and put your trust in the Lord.
6 There be many that say, * Who will
show us any good?
7 Lord, lift thou up* the light of thy
countenance upon us.
8 Thou hast put gladness in my heart; *
yea, more than when their corn and wine and oil increase.
9 I will lay me down in peace, and take
my rest; * for it is thou, Lord, only, that makest me dwell in safety.
Glory be to the Father and to the Son *
and to the Holy Ghost.
As it was in the beginning, is now, and
ever shall be, * world without end. Amen.
The Collect.
GRANT, O Lord, that as we are baptized into the death of
thy blessed Son our Saviour Jesus Christ, so by continual mortifying our
corrupt affections we may be buried with him : and that through the grave, and
gate of death, we may pass to our joyful resurrection ; for his merits, who
died, and was buried, and rose again for us, thy Son Jesus Christ our Lord.
Amen.
